3 Years Old! 3 Stars! 9 Rubies! Taproom!

It's been 3 years since we received the keys to our premises, and got to work preparing our first three beers.  Oh how we've grown, and we're so proud to be where we are now, with thanks to all of you co-owners, co-tipplers, co-volunteers, co-idea bringers.

To celebrate our 3rd Birthday we have 3 things to tell you… we're pretty excited.

Great Taste Awards 2018

Our very first Salamander Series beer, Utopian Stout has just won the highest rating of 3 Stars in the Great Taste Awards 2018. We've always knew it was special, but it's always lovely to have our beer recognised through prestigious awards. As far as we can see we're the only stout to be awarded 3 stars. A great way to celebrate our 3rd anniversary. 

Here's what the Guild of Fine Food panelists had to say:

The description says it all, so chocolatey and unctuous but with a red fruit quality and liquorice coming through as well, the high ABV adding a vinous element accentuated by the bottle conditioning.

The liquorice is amazing, it's a triumph.  Fabulous mouthfeel, it is winey, there is just something about the ambience - really delicious.  Layers of flavour that keep developing - the second time you taste it, it has developed more complexity.

And to top it all off, East the Beast grabbed 1 star .  Anyone thirsty?

We're happy to announce the launch of our latest beer, 9 Rubies, a tasty 5.5% raspberry smoothie IPA which you may remember made its debut at last year's Portrush Beer and Food Festival.  Come on down to the Tap Room this Saturday to try a glass from the first serve.  Deliveries to our usual outlets will follow next week.  This beer will also be on tap at the Great British Beer Festival in London - we sent a mixed pallet over this week, sharing the haulage with Bullhouse Brewery.

We also have keg and cask orders for this popular beer from CAMRA and ABV Fest.  We are at the start of beer festival season, including working towards our own.  Keep an eye out on the Portrush Beer and Food Festival website for more details (get the Oct date in your diary now) and keep checking in with social media for local events. 

 

Taproom

We're holding a taproom in the brewery at 7A Victoria St, Portrush BT56 8DL, from 1pm to 9pm this Saturday, 4th August. We'd love you to come along and celebrate with us and some fresh beer!

Owing to several requests, mostly from restaurants and hotels, our 3 "core" beers will be released in 330mls.  If you like a smaller bottle, you'll be able to find our 3 best sellers - East the Beast, West Bay, and Devil's Washtub - in both sizes soon.  We'll let you know when.   

3 Cheers for our Volunteers

We wouldn't be where we are without our volunteers for things big and small; labelling, bottling, driving cases, giving a sales lead, doing marketing and social media, taking photos, cleaning, doing research.  A big thank you to you all, our true gold medalists.  There is a glass with your name on it at the Tap Room Saturday - hopefully you'll get a sit down to drink it!
