Hopped Kombucha at Lacada
I was sitting in the office here poring over Taiichi Ohno's 'Toyota Production System' when Sam popped in with a drink in his hand.
"Try this man"
I looked at the glass which was full of a clear liquid that I could not quite place. "Maybe a very light ale made with extra pale Maris Otter" I said to myself.
Upon smelling the drink I detected the unmistakable aroma of hops.
I took a sip, only to discover that this was no beer. My tongue was treated to a tropical cascade of mango and pineapple it's true... but there was no malty backbone.
Instead something quite sweet with a little offset from hops and the distant taste of tea.
Hopped, Fruited Kombucha. Non-alcoholic. Well sub 0.5% anyway...
'Kom-BEER-cha' if you will.
Available right now from the brewery only. We're running a growler protocol using unmarked 500mL brown bottles. First bottle is £1, thereafter refills are just the cost of the actual kombucha, which is £3.00.
So if you are curious about our hybrid hopped kombucha come and get a growler from us, we're here all day at the taproom. As always you are free to sample before purchase!
It's only been a week since we started pouring our kombucha experiments! You've blown us away. You've been coming here not for our delicious craft beer but for this other fermented drink we do. On a few days we sold more kombucha than we did beer believe it or not. We've all been drinking it ourselves too. The nice thing is we can drink it all day at work here. Well, we COULD drink fine craft ale all day at work but sadly you wouldn't hear from us just so often!
